Cake Mix Donuts
a sweet treat for Valentines Day
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner on Saturday, I wanted to share an easy and inexpensive treat for all your loved ones. These donuts are made using a boxed cake mix, and you can choose any flavor you like. Since they are baked, they are a healthier option compared to deep-fried donuts. Best of all, you can ice, drizzle, or decorate them to your heart’s content! They also make for a fun project with the kids. I keep a good supply of cake mixes in the pantry for when we crave something sweet, or when I need a quick treat for a gathering. I do tend to bake seasonal and these donuts have become a fun challenge. Red velvet for Christmas, lemon for Easter, carrot for Thanksgiving, cherry for Valentines day, and chocolate anytime/year-round! So, if you need a thoughtful gift for your Valentine, get creative with these cake mix donuts. Just make a practice batch for yourself, because they go fast!
Cake Mix Donuts
1 box cake mix (any flavor)
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup oil ( I use avocado)
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray your donut pans with non-stick spray.
Place your cake mix, egg, oil, milk, and vanilla extract into a large mixing bowl and mix with an electric mixer or whisk until well combined.
Next, place your donut batter into a large piping bag or large plastic Ziploc bag, snip off the corner, and carefully fill each donut cavity 3/4 of the way full.
Place your donut pans into the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are a light golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely (about 10-15 minutes). Frost, dip in chocolate, or eat plain.

Thanks!! Is there a good way to do this without a donut pan?
